by Gillian HarveyOne of the most intense, physically challenging sporting events of the year the Rat Race Urban Adventure is just about to kick off.
Edinburgh will be transformed into an adventure playground during the two-day event, with hundreds of people flocking to the beautiful Princes Street Gardens to take part.
Participants will have a go at a packed programme full of intense physical activities, including running, climbing, mountain biking, kayaking abseiling and orienteering activities.
There will also be mysterious secret sections element to get stuck into, which will truly tests endurance and agility skills.
And maybe the most exciting thing is that the exact details of the course layout are largely still under wraps, so those who take part will just have to wait to find out exactly what theyll be doing - and where!
Up to 300 teams will battle against each other in this testing weekend competition, to be crowned the winners of the annual sporting event.
Funds are also being raised for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCP), the event's official charity partner, making it a really worthwhile activity to get involved with.
