Bringing together various pieces of history, the brand new exhibition Scotland: A Changing Nation, looks at just how much everyday life has changed in Scotland over the years.

Exploring five major themes - including war, industry, economics, and social change - the gallery brings together many fascinating objects from all over the country, chronicling the time period of the First World War to the present day.

There is also a section in the exhibition which celebrates key Scottish achievement in sport, culture, medicine, science and technology.

Exhibits – both traditional and contemporary - are wide ranging, and contain a vast range of items from furniture to food, and technology to textiles.

And film clips, significant historical objects and first-hand accounts from those living and working in Scotland, help this exhibition to examine how Scotland has been shaped into the nation it is today.

Aiming to reflect the vibrancy and diversity of Scotland’s culture over the last century, Scotland: A Changing Nation is sure to provide a truly thought-provoking glimpse into the social history of our country.

The new permanent gallery, Scotland: A Changing Nation, is on at the National Museum of Scotland from July 11.
