Angelina Ballerina

Budding ballerinas are in for a special treat this summer as everyone’s favourite en pointe mouse Angelina Ballerina is brought to life by English National Ballet at Glasgow’s Theatre Royal.

The Glasgow show is the only Scottish outing for the company’s tour, which has adapted the popular Angelina Ballerina books as part of its campaign to bring ballet to a wider audience.

Angelina Ballerina’s Big Audition follows the little star with big dreams through an audition for the most prestigious school in the land – the Camembert Academy of Performing Arts. Angelina is exited about her big chance, but worried about leaving her friends and her teacher, Miss Lilly, at her old school. But when she gets there she makes lots of new friends – and not all ballerinas! There’s the hip-hopping AZ and disco-dancing Vici, too.

Angelina Ballerina’s Big Audition is choreographed by Antony Dowson, with music from Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite arranged by English National Ballet’s Music Director Gavin Sutherland. The magical sets and costumes have been inspired by the forthcoming Angelina Ballerina animated TV series and from the original book illustrations.

The show offers children aged between three and nine a chance to see classical ballet danced by members of English National Ballet at affordable prices. It’s at the Theatre Royal on Tue 11th & Wed 12th August.
