It's slime time at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews with the launch this week of a school holiday-spanning stage adaptation of childrens classic Fungus The Bogeyman.
Adapted from the book by world-renowned author and illustrator Raymond Briggs creator of classics like the Snowman and When the Wind Blows the play is the perfect way to while away a rainy summers afternoon.
The action follows the exploits of Fungus, a loveable but disgustingly filthy Bogeyman who is forced into reluctant contact with some far-too-clean humans after his son Mould gets lost whilst exploring above ground.
The month long residency is the latest stop on a triumphantly received tour of the UK regions by Yorkshire based performing arts group Pilot Theatre, who co-produce the show with Londons artdepot.
Suitable for children aged four and up, the production features music and songs by Ivan Stott, design by Ali Allen, and direction by Marcus Romer.
Fungus the Bogeyman is at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews from Wed July 9 to Saturday August 9. Tickets are £13-£15 with concessions £6-£12.
