Northern indie scene survivors The Charlatans are set to return to Scotland next week when they play Aberdeen and Glasgow as part of a 12-date UK tour.
The band, led by evergreen Mancunian frontman Tim Burgess, are back on the road for the first time since playing a series of big one-off shows last year including slots at massive stadium gigs with The Who and the Rolling Stones.
The gigs will give fans their first opportunity to hear the band perform material from new album You Cross My Path, which hits the shops this week after being made available as a free download back in March a release that is being talked up as their best in years by many including, perhaps predictably, manager Alan Creation Records McGee.
With a career spanning nearly 20 years and ten studio albums, its fair to speculate that concert goers can look forward to a setlist packed with favourites from the organ-driven garage grooves of their early career, through to the country, classic rock, and soul stylings of their later career, and beyond.
The Charlatans play Glasgows Carling Academy Tuesday May 20, and Aberdeens Music Hall on Monday May 19. Tickets are available for both gigs priced £22.50.
