Kilmarnock Edition Festival
Robert Burns would surely be astonished to see the first volume of his verse give its vernacular title to a festival of popular music in the town of its publication. Not, of course, that he would have been anything but baffled by the term Kilmarnock Edition.
Here East Ayrshire Council and DF Concerts leap aboard the Homecoming bandwagon with two days of music at Dean Castle and at the Grand Hall in the Palace Theatre.
Calvin Harris (pictured) is providing the acceptable face of disco at the hall on the Sunday night, when The Saw Doctors, Seth Lakeman and Jo Mango are the alternative at the Castle.
On Saturday it is Lloyd Cole, Camera Obscura and Kris Drever at the Castle, with Pearl and the Puppets and A Band Called Quinn making it well worth showing up for the free show in the afternoon.
