Paul Carrack & The Eagles
Former Squeeze and Mike and the Mechanics member Paul Carrack is to be The Eagles special guest when they come to Glasgows Hampden Park in July.
Carrack has had a prolific career spanning 40 years, including a stint in Roxy Music, Seventies pub rock band Ace, and session work with The Smiths, Elton John and Pink Floyds Roger Waters.
Country-rock giants The Eagles are best known for their single Hotel California. Carrack wrote the track I Dont Want To Hear Any More for their worldwide number one album Long Road Out Of Eden in 2006. He then recorded the same song, with Eagles Timothy B Schmit and Don Henley on backing vocals, for his most recent album, I Know That Name.
The Eagles and Carrack have a long history together. Carrack says, I first met Timothy B Schmit in 1975 when I went across to the US with Ace, where our single How Long was number one. Down the years we kept in touch and Timothy would come to our shows and in 1995 I went over to the US to work with him and Don Felder. Id taken with me a song that Pete Vale, Jim Capaldi and I had written called Love Will Keep Us Alive, and the Eagles recorded it.
Love Will Keep Us Alive was subsequently used on the album Hell Freezes Over, and also spent three weeks at number one on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart in the US.
Yorkshire-born Carrack says, I'm really excited about playing the outdoor shows with The Eagles; although theres been a connection for many years Ive never had the chance to work on the same show before and Im really grateful for the opportunity to play in front of their fans. Hopefully I might be able to win over a few to my music!
Playing in such huge venues will be fantastic, I've played in venues large, small and all sizes in-between and the great connection I get with the audience always remains the same. This time round it will just with lots of people! As long as I have the opportunity to play live with my band, I will be happy.
The Eagles and Paul Carrack play Hampden Park in Glasgow on July 4.
