Theatre, plays, opera, dance and ballet in Scotland
s1play's On Stage section is the best place in Scotland to find out about theatre, comedy and dance.
We cover everything in the Scottish theatrical world: drama, comedy, tragedy, stand-up, farce, ballet, musicals, modern dance, Shakespeare, pantomime, children's theatre, puppet shows - you name it, we'll list it. If there's a play you want to see, look on s1play first.
We cover the whole of Scotland, so there's something for everyone.
In the Highlands? Why not search for what's on at the Eden Court Theatre in Inverness or at the Strathpeffer Pavilion? In the North East? Why not take a look at what's on in His Majesty's Theatre or the Music Hall in Aberdeen? How about the Islands? Have a look for plays and more in An Tobar on Mull, the Aros Centre on Skye and Mull Little Theatre.
How about Tayside and Fife? We've got listings for the Caird Hall in Dundee, the Byre Theatre in St Andrews, the Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline, the Adam Smith Theatre in Kircaldy. In Perthshire we have Pitlochry Festival Theatre and Perth's Horsecross complex - Perth Theatre and Perth Concert Hall.
The Central Belt is packed with entertainment. Make sure you take a look at what's on at the MacRobert Arts Centre in Stirling, Cumbernauld Theatre, and Falkirk Town Hall. In Glasgow, you can choose from the Pavilion, the Royal Concert Hall, the Theatre Royal, the Tramway, Oran Mor, the Ramshorn, Platform, the King's Theatre, Gilmorehill G12 and the Tron. In Edinburgh there are even more, with The Playhouse, the Traverse, the Gateway, the Edinburgh Festival Theatre, the King's Theatre, Church Hill Theatre, the Bedlam, the Brunton Theatre in Musselburgh, the Queen's Hall, the St Bride's Centre, North Edinburgh Arts Centre, and the Jam House.
Don't forget to check out Scotland's dedicated comedy venues: Jongelurs and The Stand, which both have premises in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Ayrshire has the Gaiety Theatre in Ayr and the Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock, while Lanarkshire has the Motherwell Theatre, East Kilbride Arts Centre and East Kilbride Village Theatre. And we never neglect the south of the country: Dumfries and Galloway has the Theatre Royal in Dumfries, the Swallow Theatre in Whithorn and the Ryan Centre in Stranraer, while the Borders has the Wynd Theatre in Melrose and the Bowhill Theatre at Selkirk.
So whatever you're looking for on stage - be it a hypnotist, a comic, a medium, a musical, a juggler, a circus or a one-act play - s1play is the place to search.
