Man on a Ledge (12A)

Sam Worthington checks into an expensive hotel, has a meal, puts on a suit and climbs out onto the window ledge, threatening to jump unless the police are brought.

But this is all just a distraction from the diamond theft that his brother (Jamie Bell) is carrying out across the street, in a pile of absolute tosh that combines a high concept with low writing.

Though an attempt is made to pad things out with a backstory involving wrongful imprisonment and Ed Harris’s dodgy businessman, in heist terms, this is rather low-grade stuff.

With some dull performances it becomes something of a charisma vacuum and there’s not a single surprise to be had, yet despite the galloping idiocy, it’s so completely potty that it becomes increasingly hard to dislike.
